About: |
Seattle Parks & Recreation organizes hundreds of classes and events that encompass a wide range of adult and family activities (everything from swimming to soccer) well suited for having fun and meeting other people with similar interests.
Parks manages 6,200 acres of park land, 430 parks, 26 community centers, 11 off-leash areas, 10 swimming pools, three environmental learning centers, two small craft centers, the Amy Yee Tennis Center, and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center.
Parks puts a major focus on environmental issues and the creation of parks on reclaimed spaces: military bases, freeway airspace, landfills, and a former lumber mill, fireworks factory, and of course, a gas plant.
Parks is implementing the $146 million, voter-approved Parks and Green Spaces Levy.
